One of its most prized assets of Johnson County Community College has been its culinary program which has long been viewed as one of the best in the country.

Culinary students in the new pastry kitchen at the new JCCC Hospitality and Culinary Academy.

It has graduated some of the city’s top chefs, as well as some prestigious names in the cooking world. Now, they have a facility to match its reputation: A brand new $13.5 million academy which the head of the Kansas City Chef’s Association recently described as so incredible it’s like walking on the deck of the starship enterprise. On October 6, you get a chance to see it for yourself plus taste some of the students’ creations during a free tour. If you can’t make it, KCPT’s Dave Burkhart and Lindsey Foat provide this sneak peek at the new space.
