Guy Fieri Driving Into KC Live! Next Year with New Restaurant

Guy Fieri, the flamboyant host of “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” is rolling out a new “one-of-a-kind” restaurant at the Kansas City Live! block next year.
“Let me just put it this way: If you like to party, and you like tacos, this is gonna be your kinda dive!,” Fieri said in a release from the Power & Light District announcing the venture.
Fieri’s new place will feature a taco-focused menu. It will occupy space just vacated by the Cleaver & Cork restaurant, which closed last week after three years of operation.
“We are always excited to announce new tenants, but this is particularly special,” Nick Benjamin, executive director of the Power & Light District, said in a statement.
“The combination of one of the nation’s premier chefs and personalities, who has a long history with Kansas City; a brand new concept for Kansas City, the synergy of Guy with the energy of KC Live!, has us all extremely excited for 2019.”
Fieri is no stranger to Kansas City, having featured several local restaurant owners on his popular Food Network show. He also was inducted into the American Royal BBQ Hall of Fame in 2012.
“Kansas City has always been one of my favorite cities…the people, the food, the culture,” Fieri said in a statement. “I think this is the perfect opportunity to bring a unique, one-of-a-kind bar and restaurant concept to town.”
His new restaurant will be the third to occupy the prime corner within the Kansas City Live! courtyard.
The other two have been restaurants developed by ECI, an affiliate of the Cordish Co., the owner of the Power & Light District: Maker’s Mark opened in 2008 and Cork and Cleaver in 2015.
The Live block however, scored a local coup last year when County Line Ice House, a restaurant featuring Joe’s Kansas City BBQ opened and now a marquee national tenant with Fieri.
“Downtown has been on a great run, and bringing Guy Fieri’s energy and talent into the mix will only grow our momentum,” Benjamin said in a statement.
Additional announcements about the menu and concept will be shared by Fieri later this year.
