Urban educator Carl Boyd has been working with young people since 1964, perhaps most notably as founder and the first host of the long-running local radio show “Generation Rap.”
The show evolved since its debut in 1987.
“I started ‘Generation Rap’ and I gave young people a voice,” Boyd recalls in the latest installment of “Passing the Baton.”
“Jim Nunnelly came after me. He gave young people a show,” Boyd says. “So ‘Generation Rap took on another persona that was greater ownership for the young people.”
