A $52 million apartment project that would replace an industrial building on the northeast corner of 20th and Broadway remains on track despite delays, according to its developer.

Opus Development won approval for the 228-unit apartment project a year ago from the city. It’s planned for the site currently occupied by the Faultless Health Care Linen building at 1915 Broadway, about three blocks south of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.

The developer had originally hoped to begin construction in the fourth quarter of 2017 with completion late this year. Joe Downs, vice president of real estate development for Opus, said in a statement the project is still moving forward.

“We continue finalizing plans for our apartment project in the vibrant Crossroads neighborhood,” Downs said. “We look forward to sharing more information in the year ahead.”

Most residential development in the Crossroads Arts District to date have been historic renovation projects. Currently, the 12-story, 126-unit ARTerra apartment project is underway at 2100 Wyandotte.

Construction has yet to begin on the $76.8 million, 283-unit City Club Apartments project. It will include new construction and renovation of the Midwest Hotel at 1915 Main St.
