Best Eat In the House | EJ’s Urban Eatery’s Espresso-Rubbed Smoked Brisket
Published January 10th, 2018 at 6:00 AM
Best Eat in the House features dining recommendations from people in and around Kansas City. For this episode, we asked Columbus Park Ramen Shop and Happy Gillis Café and Hangout co-owner and chef Josh Eans for the one dish he loves. He couldn’t wait to talk about the espresso-rubbed smoked brisket with white BBQ sauce at EJ’s Urban Eatery.
We stopped by EJ’s (1414 W. Ninth Ave.) to learn how co-owner and chef John Smith prepares his brisket, as well as the white barbecue sauce that accompanies it, as part of his new Meat and Three concept in the West Bottoms. A Meat and Three restaurant lets you pick a protein (at EJ’s, that’s something like espresso-rubbed smoked brisket or breakfast ribs), as well as your side dishes (squash casserole, macaroni and cheese, vegetables sautéed in herb butter).
