Best Eat In the House | Char Bar’s The JackKnife

August 17, 2017  |  Brad Austin, Jonathan Bender  |  1 min read

Best Eat in the House features dining recommendations from people in and around Kansas City. For this episode, we asked City Councilwoman Jolie Justus for the one dish she loves and her answer might surprise folks in and outside of KC. Justus pointed us to Char Bar’s The JackKnife sandwich, made with cold-smoked jackfruit, cheese, avocado, fried onions strings, and barbecue sauce.

We visited Char Bar to learn how the sandwich is made and to talk with executive chef Jeremy Tawney about how the sandwich offers a vegetarian barbecue island in a sea of smoked meats.

Got an idea for what we should feature next? Drop us a line.
