Screenland Armour Theatre co-owner Adam Roberts is a huge fan of “An American Werewolf in London,” a 1981 comedic gorefest directed by John Landis.

Roberts says the film struck a tricky balance between horror and comedy long before it became common in Hollywood. He also commends the “transformation scenes” that are crucial for any good werewolf movie.

“It’s lean, mean. It’s funny,” Roberts enthuses. “It’s a total iconic film.”

One caveat: Roberts recommends viewers should be a least 16 years old.

It’s a crazy film for a crazy moment. We suspect Warren Zevon would be pleased, even though his hit single released in 1978 is conspicuously absent from the ironically upbeat, moon-themed soundtrack.

Aah-oooh!
