If the notion of going to a beautiful old movie palace to take in a sweet romantic comedy makes you just a little misty, you’ve definitely come to the right place.

Local filmmakers Jason Hudson and Al Southern are premiering their latest film, “Accidental Family,” this weekend in St. Joseph, the community where the film was shot.

If this premiere goes down anything like their last movie, it could be a pretty big deal. The two filmmakers also premiered “Christmas at the Chateau” at the historic Missouri Theater in downtown St. Joseph in December 2018 and pulled huge crowds.

“We were blown away,” said Hudson, writer and director of the films. “In three days, we had over 5,000 people come out to one screen.”

To learn more about “Accidental Family,” watch the attached video.

All in all, this is a big week for hipster cred in St. Joseph. Local band Radkey opened for the Foo Fighters Thursday night. “Accidental Family” premieres Friday night, with additional showings on Saturday and Sunday. And Kansas City Chiefs training camp is in full swing.

Road trip!
