KC Performs | Abigail Stahlschmidt and Ballet Street Project

KC Performs

December 29, 2020  |  Brad Austin  |  2 min read

If you’re looking for help making holiday spirits linger, you’ve come to the right place.

Abigail Stahlschmidt recently teamed up with Ballet Street Project to perform “Christmas Countdown” with a stunningly lit Crown Center serving as the backdrop.

“As a composer and international electric violinist, it’s satisfying to have the chance to collaborate with other artists — in particular, how dance brings a beautiful visual element to my music,” Stahlschmidt says. “In a year where many holiday activities are limited, it was an honor to collaborate with the talented Ballet Street Project and photographers and videographers with Ron Berg Studio whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with on other projects as well. We hope that this video spreads some holiday magic!”

The collaboration is part of “KC Performs,” a new show on Kansas City PBS that lends a broadcast stage for local artists whose live venues have been darkened as a result of the pandemic.

“We were approached by Abby to do a collaboration with her new Christmas song, and we thought what a perfect time for a holiday video,” says Tempe Ostergren, creative director and producer of the Ballet Street Project. “Theaters have remained closed and people need as much positive entertainment as possible. With Crown Center and all its sparkling lights as the backdrop, we want to try to capture the effervescent glow of the holiday spirit and the innate joy that is sparked within.”
