If previous Thanksgivings are any indication of how this one will go, we’ll probably overdo it. We’ll scarf down an entire pecan pie and about five servings of turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, red-wine mushrooms and macaroni salad.

Before our naps, we’ll briefly experience a moment of beer bliss, when our favorite brown ale perfectly complements the roasted turkey, a moment where the goings on in our mouths reach a state of pure harmony with our taste buds. This is what Thanksgiving is all about. Oh yeah, family and friends are cool, too.

Besides the weekly rundown below, beer enthusiast Cassie Niemeyer shares a few perfect pairings for the Thanksgiving feast in the attached video.

Tap Notes

The 4 Hands Brewing Co. Chocolate Milk Stout is a thing of beauty. This delicious stout clocks in at around 5.5% ABV (10 IBU), and bursts with notes of chocolate milk. It’s like drinking a Yoo-hoo but for grown-ups!

I had the Torn Label Brewing Co. Dubbel, Dubbel Toil and Trouble classic Belgian Dubbel at Taps on Main the other day, and this beer was an absolute treat. At 7.5% ABV, this Belgian brew hits heavy with notes of caramel, butterscotch, raisin and barley on the finish.

An impenetrable fortress of black, the 4 Hands Brewing Co. Secret Handshake Imperial Double Stout (10.5% ABV) bops you over the head with strong hints of grape, berry and milk chocolate.

Cue the Kansas City Chiefs anthem for Diametric Brewing Co’s TD Tossin’ Patrick MaHazy New England IPA (6.8% ABV). This beer is creamy with strong hoppy notes. Like Patrick Mahomes himself, this beer will not disappoint.

Boulevard Brewing Company’s Berry Noir is a sour-ale mixed with actual berries, blueberries and blackberries to be exact. At 4.2% ABV (10 IBU), this beer has a heavy, berry fruity flavor on the front end, with malty notes on the finish.
