Here’s The KC BBQ Mid-Bracket Breakdown

September 25, 2020  |  Emily Woodring  |  3 min read

There’s some smoking competition in Flatland’s inaugural BBQ Bonanza Bracket to select Kansas City’s favorite barbecue joint.

Before introducing our (Burnt) End Eight, let’s review the early rounds of voting.

In the first round, two of the 32 match-ups were decided by a single vote. Summit Hickory Pit BBQ inched past Scott’s Kitchen with a single vote. Another one-vote win was McGonigle’s KC BBQ over Blind Box BBQ. Big winners in the first round were Q39, Joe’s KC, Sneads BBQ, BB’s Lawnside BBQ, and Rosedale Bar-B-Que, which all garnered at least two-thirds of the votes cast by readers.

In the second round, Q39, Slap’s BBQ, Joe’s KC,and LC’s Bar-B-Que were big winners. The tightest second-round competition was a narrow two-vote difference in favor of Johnny’s BBQ over Burnt End BBQ.

The Smoky Sixteen attracted the heaviest voting turnout yet, knocking out some consistent favorites, and resulted in the following (Burnt) End Eight:

Jousting Pigs BBQ out of Liberty, MO

Slap’s BBQ out of Kansas City, KS

Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que out of Kansas.

BB’s Lawnside BBQ out of Kansas City, MO.

Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue out of the Kansas City Metro.

Rosedale Bar-B-Q out of Kansas City, KS.

Arthur Bryant’s Barbeque out of Kansas City MO.
