About 70% of Americans aged 65 and older will need long-term care at some point in their lifetime. Financial planning for extended care can help ensure a good quality of life if you or a loved one are unable to care for yourselves.

Watch the attached video as Jamie Bosse, financial planner and member of Kansas City’s Financial Planning Association, walks you through the maze to reach a worry-free retirement. She explains government-funded programs like Medicare and personal options like long-term care insurance. She also examines the requirements for accessing long-term care and the cost of premiums.

This video is part of “Age-Old Questions,” a collaborative project by Kansas City PBS and Flatland, addressing critical issues for families with aging members.
