A new Filipino eatery originally conceived at the Parlor food hall in the East Crossroads is opening in the City Market and will include family recipes that are favorites of its owner.

Ting’s Filipino Bistro will open Sept. 13 at 405 Main St. inside the Market, and its the latest concept from Theresa “Ting” Santos-Spencer’s growing portfolio of restaurants, according to a press release.

“My dream was to open a small bistro to pay homage to my parents and grandma because
they made me the successful businesswoman and restaurateur I am today,” Santos Spence said in a statement.

Traditional favorites will include Lumpia Shanghai, dish that includes ground pork, shredded carrots and fresh garlic wrapped in thin, crepe-like pastry; Chicken or Pork Adobo, a Filipino staple, and Pancit, either vegetarian or chicken, with vermicelli noodles.

Ting’s Filipino Bistro serves traditional Filipino dishes Tuesdays through Sundays from lunch time to early evening.

“We served these dishes at every party, holiday, and celebratory occasion in my family,” Santos Spencer said.

A large mural in the new City Market location depicts the story of her life. Born in the Philippines, she moved to New York City as a young child and then to Kansas City where she grew up, according to the release.

Santos Spencer said her concept for the new place is to convey Filipino culture with excitement and passion. Central to her vision is a sense of family which is woven into every aspect of the new restaurant.

Guests can expect a hip, casual vibe offering quick service to dine-in or take-out as well as online ordering, delivery services and promotions through the website and on social media, according to the release.

Ting’s Filipino Bistro hours will be Tuesday-Friday 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday-Sunday 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and closed Monday.

The new Filipino restaurant is inside the City Market at 405 Main St.
