Few things inspire the holiday spirit like the gift of music.

In this piece performed by pianist Anastasia Vorotnaya we are lifted and carried through Rachmaninoff’s Sonata no. 2. Her emphatic and precise playing emphasizes the crescendos that delicately cascade into the torrent of arpeggios. This dynamic performance is a welcome escape.

Vorotnaya is one of 30 world-class soloists at the Park International Center for Music, a renowned program at Park University.

It is a “very boutique, and very unusual program,” said Lisa Hickok, executive director of Park ICM.

Park ICM boasts a one-on-one teaching style that allows students to hone their craft and learn from professors whose focus is that small group of international musicians.

Lucky for us, who – despite the separation of a pandemic – get to witness this intimate and top-notch performance.
