Kansas City filmmaker Chuck Browne grounds “Vengeful” in an often grim reality of life in America.

“Vengeful” was written by lead actor Bobby J. Coleman, who was inspired by the racial injustice of police falsely accusing Black men of crimes they didn’t commit.

“I’ve been a victim of things like that,” Browne said. “I’ve had two instances of where I was pulled over by the cops, wrestled down to the ground and taken to jail – for nothing.”

Not surprisingly, the topic struck a chord with Browne, who took up the challenge of bringing Coleman’s story to life. The end result is a powerful film that brings together an entire local cast and crew from Kansas City, with the “top line” jobs going to African Americans.
