Oggi Lofts Expects to Open in Garment District This Summer

A former building at 600 Central St. previously known for housing a modern furniture store is in the middle of $5.7 million conversion into 25 apartments.
The four-story Oggi Lofts project is expected to be completed by August and will include two studios, 20 one-bedroom and three, two-bedroom apartments. It’s named after the last occupant, Oggi Modern Furnishings, which closed in 2007.
“It’s a great location in the north end of downtown with easy access to the River Market and one block from the streetcar,” said developer Andy Homoly of Homoly Construction.
His partner in the project is Ted Murray of Colliers International.
The brick building, which was completed in 1909, is located in the National Register of Historic Places Garment District.
Homoly said his 21 year-old firm has had extensive experience renovating historic buildings including its own offices at 924 Oak St. and a residential and retail building at 1515 Walnut.
The firm also builds custom homes and commercial projects including banks, churches and medical facilities.
“We’re having a lot of fun with these downtown projects and hope to do more,” he said.
Homoly said the top amenity at Oggi Lofts will be an easily accessible rooftop deck with great, unobstructed views of the Missouri River and the River Market.
The building also will have a fitness center, separate basement storage units for all the tenants and smartphone accessible door locks, and heating and cooling systems. There will be 24 parking spaces available to residents.
Monthly rents for a 552 square-foot studio will be $1,000; one-bedrooms ranging in size from 650- to 738 square-feet will go for $1,100, and 1,313 square-foot two-bedroom units will go for $2,200.
