Menlo Moving HQ from Northland to East Crossroads

Menlo, a growing tech services company that employs 50 people, has purchased the building housing DERMAdoctor at 1901 McGee and plans to relocate from its current suburban location next year.
Brad Sandt, president and CEO, said the East Crossroads was chosen because of its appeal to his employees and the spirit of his business.
“We’re a tech company and we want to keep that entrepreneurial spirit,” he said.
“The area has nice, walkable amenities and it’s a happening, vibrant neighborhood. As you look at the Crossroads, that’s a downtown story that’s exciting and brings the energy we’d like to be around as an organization.”
The building at 1901 McGee was purchased and renovated by DERMAdoctor about 10 years ago. Attempts to reach the skin care company regarding its future plans were unsuccessful.
Sandt said his firm plans to renovate the building and remains unsure if its distinctive mid-century modern-themed sign will remain.
“We want to update the space as create potential rooftop space as well because it has great views of the city,” he said. “We want it be a nice space for our employees.”
Menlo intends to occupy about half the building to begin with, but eventually the entire space. Sandt said the firm’s six-year forecast calls for Menlo to grow to 110 employees.
Menlo originally started 10 years ago as a technical services company that served school districts called K12itc. It was recognized by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce with its “Mr. K” award in 2016 as the top small business in the area.
In recent years, it’s grown beyond the region to serve an 11 state area that includes Colorado and Arizona, and now provides technical services to municipalities and non-profit organizations as well.
It’s current offices are in the Villages at Burlington Creek development near Interstate 29 and 64th Street. Sandt said his firm expects to occupy its new East Crossroads space in 2020.
“We couldn’t find as good of spot that gave us access to urban living, great restaurants and entertainment,” he said. “Parking also is there, which is huge for us.”
