The developers of the recently opened Centropolis on Grand apartment project in the River Market are now considering a second apartment development a block away next to the streetcar station on Third Street.
KC Commercial Realty Group, which opened the 56-unit, five-story Centropolis project last year, has acquired property at 110 E. Third St. now occupied by Paw Paws.
David Bayer of KC Commercial Realty said his firm is considering an apartment project at the location, but no final decision has been made.
“It’s right across from the streetcar stop, but the site also sits high and has good views of the city and the river, and it’s in close proximity to the City Market,” Bayer said.
If KC Commercial Realty moves forward with the apartment plan, it would join two other major apartment projects now being built in the River Market: the 140-unit 531 Grand project and the 276-unit Second and Delaware development.
Downtown is experiencing a major apartment boom and developers say the appetite for new units by millennials and empty nesters remains strong.
