‘6 Streets’ Explores How Art Can Raise Social Awareness Documentary Premieres Tonight on Kansas City PBS

It’s about so much more than paint and pavement.
Tonight at 7 p.m., Kansas City PBS will premiere “6 Streets,” a new documentary about the people who created six Black Lives Matter murals on prominent streets in Kansas City.
The 30-minute documentary explores the intersection of public art and social awareness in the wake of the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020.
“My biggest goal is for people to understand the statement is real,” says Vivian Wilson Bluett, who created the mural at 63rd Street and Brookside Boulevard.
“It’s about real humans. It’s about real lives. It’s about real dads, brothers, uncles, cousins, mothers, daughters, aunts … And if you do not believe that these real humans matter, that is where the problem is.”
