Art in the Loop Caps Season Today with Downtown Kansas City Art Crawl

Art in the Loop, a diverse assortment of public artworks in downtown Kansas City, is winding down the season with a special Downtown KC Art Crawl today.
Actually, it’s more a streetcar art crawl because the works will be toured and discussed along the streetcar route. It begins at the Kansas City Artists Coalition office at 201 Wyandotte St. and finishes with a reception in City Market Park.
“The fun thing is Art in the Loop is a temporary art installation,” said Ann Holliday of the Downtown Council. “It comes down at the end of September and this is a great time to come down and check out the works.”
The goal of Art in the Loop, which runs annually from May through September, is to infuse the center of downtown with innovative and engaging temporary art that will refresh, intrigue and entertain, Holliday said.
The art crawl begins at the Kansas City Artists Coalition, currently showing the River Market Regional Exhibition: Trust, Truth, Transcend. There will be brief remarks and videos about the artists beginning at 4:30 p.m. and then at 5:15 participants will hop onboard streetcar.

Holliday said there will be several stops at which people will hop off the streetcar ad listen to the artists discuss their works.
“Art in the Loop is about engaging artists with the public,” she said. “It’s a diverse group of local artists working in all kinds of mediums.”
The tour ends with a reception in City Market Park. If the weather is bad, the reception will return to the KC Artists Coalition office. Tickets are $10 each. You can register here.
