Art House Extra: A Masterpiece Created ‘In Cold Blood’

Art House has taken on a distinctly Kansas City flavor in recent weeks, focusing on movies with local connections. Few, if any, films have such strong local ties as the Richard Brooks-directed classic 1967 true crime film “In Cold Blood.”

Brooks went to extraordinary lengths to make the film as realistic as possible, in the process blurring the line between narrative storytelling and documentary. Yet the most stunning scene in a movie full of them came about completely by accident.
