Lifted Spirits Distillery (1734 Cherry St.) begins a new chapter with its Experimental Spirits Series this Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. They're holding an open house and will sample jalapeño and herb vodka and jasmine rooibos with lemon (made with Hugo tea). The distillery will talk about ingredients and its process for creating spirits. The Little Platte Distillery (210 E. Meadow St., Smithville, Missouri) has its grand opening from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. The distillery is producing legal moonshine from a corn mash, and will have apple pie, pecan pie, or berry infusions available. The Kansas City Ballet's production of "The Wizard of Oz," runs through this Sunday at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. You can catch a show Friday (7:30 p.m.), Saturday (2 p.m., 7:30 p.m.), or Sunday (2 p.m.).
